Raleigh Real Estate and Relocation Help Desk
RELOCATING SENIORS

Relocation after retirement is a big step. Sometimes seniors initiate a move on their own or sometimes they follow their families who have already come to the area. In either case, it is important to have a well-planned strategy for housing, transportation, medical care, living costs, social needs, and finances before making a move. Although the Triangle may not offer the lowest cost-of-living, especially when compared to large retirement communities in Florida and the southwest, it has a wealth of housing options, cultural and educational opportunities, superb medical facilities and an excellent support network.

Here are some local links which may be helpful in researching the possibilities:

NC Division of Aging (wonderful site with extensive info ranging from adult day care to reverse mortgages to volunteerism):

  • North Carolina FAQ
  • Topic Index
  • Elder Housing Locator for Wake County

Resources for Seniors in Wake County:

  • Community Database

    Retirement Communities On-Line:

    Continuing Education:

  • NC State University Encore Program

Keep in mind that we can help find low maintenance, affordable, ranch-style homes for seniors who are not yet ready to invest in a continuing care community. Several new neighborhoods are being developed now. Ask us!
